News from the Horn...

(july - 08) - horns live at the ICA...

we played our show at the ica in london. it was packed and there was an exhibition, 3 rooms of music and lots of cocktails, a great night! thanks to all of you who came and watched and danced or shouted in a crazy way! there was a horn on the decks too so we rocked it from all angles!

(june 08) - update...

it has been a right whirlwind couple of months for us. we have
traveled thousands of miles in our little bus and on planes, trains, ferries, played in 9 different countries and met shit loads of you
crazy hornies. we are speechless and really touched that so many of
you traveled so far just to see the shows. it was great to meet so
many of you! and thanks to all you dj’s who have been playing our
music out. and everyone who interviewed us and wrote about
us...

now we have had a little rest and stared at the wall for a few weeks
and got antibiotics for our ear infections and gone back into our
broken down building to drink tea / vodka and start new noise! we are
working away on the new music. yeah fuck it, we are going to make another record!

more news soon...

(may 08) - european tour

we are on tour... news soon.

(april 08) - movie trailer

hello if you have come to this site after hearing our song "you are the space invader' on the HBO channel in america. they are using our music in a movie trailer. most people don't know who the song is by but some people have tracked us down! thanks for all your amazing messages...

(april 08) - we love super, we love paris!

we had a wonderful time in paris. the super gang looked after us so well. collaborating with the artist group "bowling club" was a joy. we were really worried as we could only exchange a handful of emails before we met, but everything just clicked. we spent an afternoon in their studio with paper, pencils and cheap champagne and we are very proud of the work we did together... it was cool to be part of an event such as this where creative minds link up. we performed in a museum / art gallery and it was the perfect space. bowling club hung hand blown glass biosphres filled with earth, grass and a little adventurer from the ceiling. these created a perfect sense of isolation within as well as a natural enviroment to explore. a video was made by the real-life adventurer / scientist who filmed our performance, the crowd, the biospheres and the room. this film was projected in real time, all bathed in a strange green light... paris is an amazing city and we were lucky to have beautiful sun shine and some great adventures of our own. we are looking forward to going back in may as part of our european tour...

(december 07)

we wanted to say thanks everyone for rockin the horn and making 2007 the year of the horn!

a whole year has gone by since we got dropped off in the middle of nowhere and started recording our album. it was very special to finish and then release that record in the summer and then to play so many live shows in so many different countries. we are really grateful for all of your amazing support, in person and via the website, from all the wonderful places you live. we hope next year to get out to even more countries... bring it on!

big biggy up to you all. enjoy the season and stay warm...

much love, horns xx

(december 07)

thanks to everyone who came to the bloomsbury ballroom show. and thanks to everyone at supersweet who were so kind to us. our next show is on the 15th at the macbeth in london. see you there! until then we are hiding away, making noise. the problem with an old building is that it's drafty and cold and the wet gets in... but nothing a lot of hot soup and strong liquor can't sort.

(november 07)

the tour is finished now and we can get back in our hideaway in the broken down church. making noise again. there will be a few one off shows before the end of the year... the first is for supersweet magazine at the bloomsbury ballroom on monday the 3rd december... see you there!!

(november 07)

(june 07)

so good meeting everyone at the shows in ireland! looking forward to coming back soon. we are also looking forward to our next single 'crackerjack docker' and we are making the video for it now, in the broken down church - this time on film not video. we spent a long time on the b-sides for the single - because we didn't like the first b-sides we made so we scrapped them and started again. we wanted to treat them as a sides but just on the other side. this has caused the release date to go back, but it's worth it to have a better record. we will be playing some shows soon as well - secret garden festival plus a festival in paris... more news soon

(may 07) new single update...

we listened to the test pressing today and it sounded rich and loud - like only vinyl can! the download was out on may 14th but the vinyl single will out on may 28th. we think it is worth waiting and get it on vinyl if you have a record player, we love the sound of vinyl!!!

(may 07) new single...

our new single "up! up! up!" and "hamworthy sports and leisure centre" is going to be released late because when we got the test pressing back from the factory it just didn't sound right so we got it done again and that has caused a delay. choosing between a hold-up or a record that didn't sound right was easy for us to decide, but sorry for the delay!

horns x

(april 07) america cancelled...

our US and Canada shows have been cancelled because of a crappy administrative visa problem. we are really sorry. we all share the disappointment and it has been really tough for us to actually say it out loud and take it in but it sucks basically and there is nothing we can do, except pull up our socks and move on...

thankyou so much for all your support. we love hearing from you. we have more shows and festivals booked through the summer and we will be organizing something over the water before too long we promise..

(feb 07) horn album...

...we have finished making the record and we are so happy we made a record and so happy with the way it sounds. it was not easy, we started recording the album in an isolated national trust cottage in devon. we like recording by ourselves, completely on our own in the middle of nowhere, so we packed all our equipment and a months worth of food into a van. but when we got there all we did was fight and get pissed. we got so frustrated and threw the kick-drum into the field. so we moved to a barn in sussex – an old cow shed. that felt much better. more like the feeling we got in the ex-chapel building. we didn't sleep much. we just went flat out to record the 16 songs for the record.

...time went so fast there. soon there was no time left – and we headed straight to the airport to new york. that was weird. going to america. then driving to new york from jfk airport - it looked like basingstoke a bit. we went to the dfa studios and worked with james murphy, tim goldsworthy and eric broueck. we got on so well and we worked for a week, mixing the record together. to keep it sparse and stripped back and honest. to keep the breathing space. and to make it loud!

horns are sure we have told you all this already but it was in-and-out for us. we finished the record and headed straight home. and then straightaway we mastered the record and worked on the sleeve and then played some shows. and we played the support shows for lcd soundsystem, such big halls - and it was amazing to see you all out there in little pockets growing slowly into bigger pockets! lcd were very kind to us. that was a very special time.

next we have shows in scotland (tryptich) on the 25th-27th april and then on may 15th we will celebrate the coming of our first ever internationally available single. it will be on vinyl of course but also on cd and download and it’s out on the 14th may. it will be two songs taken from the album called “up! up! up!” and “hamworthy sports and leisure centre”.

we have made a video for it too. we made it ourselves. we filmed it all in the chapel building.

we don’t have t-shirts to sell at gigs but we are always excited to see people in homemade ones. they are so much better! so if we haven’t seen you for a while or haven’t met you yet, grab your pals and come along and flash us a horn sign! we would love to see you...

we are back from the tour!

we are back from the tour and getting ready for some european shows. thanks so much to everyone who came out and saw us play...

we survived america!

we survived america! and now we have a record and new york has been horned... we are back! lots of news here soon...

thankyou...

thanks for all your messages and support in 2006 - it's really kept us going at times. we promise to stick it to em in 07...

making our album...

at the start of the year we rented a barn in sussex and hid away, making our album. we found a place with no phones, no computers. although we had already spent three weeks on the album in a national trust cottage in devon we decided we hated what we'd done because it didn't feel right, we just got stuck trying to work out some new recording equipment as well which was really depressing but all is ok now, we are back to our old selves! when all the songs were finished (there are sixteen) we made our first ever trip to new york and met and worked with james and eric and tim and mixed the tracks, ready for mastering back in england...

the dfa...

we are really happy to say we signed a deal with the dfa and their big sister emi...

7" single...

our first single came out in November 2006... it was a 7" (there are 500 copies) and you can also get it as a download if you haven't got a record player. they are two recordings we made ourselves - "eat, sleep" (which a lot of people call monsters) and "you are the space invader" - they are just as we did them, on our own, in the ex-chapel building we call home...

feel free to join the sign up gang or write to us at: mail(at)prinzhorn-dance-school(dot)com even if you just want to say hello

this is the year of the horn!
